2014 Newman Civic Fellow

Michael Stack is the 2014 Newman Civic Fellow Award recipient from the University of Colorado Denver. Michael is an outstanding student leader who is dedicated to creating a strong, supportive campus environment for his fellow students and has shown immense leadership, particularly among student Veterans. Michael is the President of the Veteran Student Organization at CU Denver, the largest student organization on campus and the largest student Veteran organization in Colorado. Through his outreach efforts, the Veteran Student Organization continues to grow and to thrive. For example, Michael led a team of student Veterans from CU Denver to a 1st place win in the Student Veterans of America Challenge out of 950 chapters from across the nation. Based on his work, the National Student Council of Student Veterans of America selected Michael to be a member in recognition of his outstanding leadership. Michael's leadership extends to various student groups on campus, including collaboration with LGBT, Women, and Muslim student groups to build bridges among diverse groups of students. Michael represents the very best of student leadership and engagement at the University of Colorado Denver.
