2016 Peter Simons Engaged Professional Award

The Engaged Professional Award recognizes a professional at a CCMW member institution who has personally advanced the meaningful integration of community engagement in into campus culture, who actively fosters reciprocal campus and community partnerships, and whose community and campus leadership provides a model for students and peers alike.

From the creation of the Center for Learning through Service, to her efforts to integrate service learning as a meaningful pedagogy across the Communication Department, to her personal service to the greater Casper community, it is clear that Mrs. Wheeler’s impact on the Casper College campus and the broader community is both far reaching and deep. We are truly delighted to be able to honor Mrs. Wheeler for her many accomplishments and look forward to celebrating those to come.

Here at CCMW we are tasked with “leading the evolution of the engaged campus,” but what does that mean? What better way to tell the story of engagement than by looking at an example of an engaged student. We would like to introduce you to Melissa Tilleman, a recent graduate of the University of Wyoming (UW), to help tell the story of how CCMW supports a campus in creating opportunities to produce engaged students.

Behold the power of service.
