Rena Dulberg

As the Director of Community Service at Johnson & Wales University, Denver Campus, I develop opportunities within the campus’ new Teaching & Learning Center that support faculty with various forms of pedagogy including experiential education, service-learning, inclusive classroom climate, identity development, global citizenship, active learning, and the development of social entrepreneurship curricula.

I also serve in a faculty role for a year-long experiential learning independent study course based on the principles of Assets Based Community Development (ABCD), which embeds students into community-based organizations and nonprofit boards in the Denver metro area with the goal of high impact collaboration.

I have extensive experience embedding social responsibility into organizational strategies, designing and facilitating professional development and leadership training programs, fostering inclusive organizations, inspiring community engagement, creating and managing corporate communications, giving presentations, managing relationships with multiple stakeholders—both inside and outside of higher educational settings.

Here at CCMW we are tasked with “leading the evolution of the engaged campus,” but what does that mean? What better way to tell the story of engagement than by looking at an example of an engaged student. We would like to introduce you to Melissa Tilleman, a recent graduate of the University of Wyoming (UW), to help tell the story of how CCMW supports a campus in creating opportunities to produce engaged students.

Behold the power of service.
