Alisha Andrews

Veteran Leader Corps AmeriCorps Member, Metropolitan State University of Denver

Alisha is a Colorado native with a great passion for civic engagement. Currently, she is pursuing a Masters in Public Administration and previously attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, receiving a Bachelors of Applied Human Science in Social Work. Alisha has worked for two political campaigns and enjoys creating dialogue about civic issues. For the 2014 Campus Vote Initiative, funded through the Campus Election Engagement Project, Alisha will be working with colleges and universities in the Denver Metro area, Boulder, and throughout the state of Nevada. Some of her favorite past times include eating pizza and reading Socrates. 


This isn’t a story about war, about the wounds—both visible and invisible—that soldiers are left to carry after war, or the trauma that goes hand in hand with being a soldier.  You won’t find details of battle or unsettling imagery in this tale.  This story is about strength and determination beyond the experience of war; this story embodies the power of self-identity as a veteran.  It’s a story of integrating the person that you once were with the person you are now...
