Vanessa Moore is our new SECond Mission AmeriCorps VISTA Leader. She is originally from Iowa City, Iowa and joined AmeriCorps VISTA in 2015 as a member of the SECond Mission team at Adams State University, in Alamosa, Colorado. Her project consisted of capacity building, resource development, and community partnership activities with the student veteran population at the Adams State University- Student Veteran Center. Now, in her third year with VISTA as a VISTA leader, she strives to aid in collaborative developoment among the SECond Mission VISTA team. 

Prior to her first year of service with AmeriCorps VISTA, Vanessa served six years as a combat medic with the Iowa Army National Guard, and completed one year-long combat deployment to Nuristan Providence, Afghanistan. During her years serving with AmeriCorps VISTA, Vanessa completed her Bachelors Degree in English. 

Vanessa is passionate about veteran’s affairs, specifically on programing and effective resource development that leads to student veteran success in higher education. She has been personally impacted by the creation of an effective student veterans center, and is eager to continue to lend her skills in assisting the new AmeriCorps VISTA members and supervisors. Her goals include making this a successful year for the VISTAs at their various college campus placements, creating positive collaborative relationships between members, and assisting the supervisors with understanding the AmeriCorps VISTA Project and all it can offer their programs.

SPOTLIGHT ON ENGAGEMENT
