Tyolena Allen

Casper College SECond Mission AmeriCorps VISTA

Tyolena is the VISTA member at Casper College. She has spent her whole life in Wyoming, and is a student at Casper College as well. Before her service, she was a work study in the student Veterans Center. She found herself amazed at the potenial impact she would have student veterans and their families, and has really enjoyed working closely with the student veteran population. Tyolena has always wanted to join the Air Force, but has been unable to and tehrefore wanted to find a way to serve the veteran community. She hopes to potentially join the Air Guard post-graduation.

During her time as a VISTA, Tyolena has created meaningful relationships with veterans on campus, helped organize events, and has continued to help develop the Veterans Center at Casper. She genuinely enjoys being able to personally serve the veterans at Casper, and has enjoyed being a motivaiting force for some of the struggling students.

Tyolena describes herself as an adreneline junky, and seeks activites that fall under that category in her free time.

Here at CCMW we are tasked with “leading the evolution of the engaged campus,” but what does that mean? What better way to tell the story of engagement than by looking at an example of an engaged student. We would like to introduce you to Melissa Tilleman, a recent graduate of the University of Wyoming (UW), to help tell the story of how CCMW supports a campus in creating opportunities to produce engaged students.

Behold the power of service.
