The Compact Service Corps AmeriCorps Program, hosted by Campus Compact of the Mountain West, is a national service program that connects students with communities through meaningful service learning, civic engagement, and community service experiences.

Each year, Compact Service Corps enables more than 3,400 college, university and college students to serve with local nonprofit and government agencies throughout Arizona, Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. Compact Service Corps Members serve in positions that focus on increasing academic engagement in K-12 schools; providing primary and preventive healthcare to those living in designated underserved areas; and recruiting, training and managing volunteers for nonprofit and government agencies to build capacity and infrastructure for volunteer management. The Compact Service Corps Program primarily focuses on supporting Careers in the Common Good (careers of service) and programs that improve student access to higher education and success in school. Learn more about program impacts through the 2012-2013 CSC Year-End Impact Report.

Here at CCMW we are tasked with “leading the evolution of the engaged campus,” but what does that mean? What better way to tell the story of engagement than by looking at an example of an engaged student. We would like to introduce you to Melissa Tilleman, a recent graduate of the University of Wyoming (UW), to help tell the story of how CCMW supports a campus in creating opportunities to produce engaged students.

Behold the power of service.
