Sarah Elsey

Specialist, Disability Services, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs

Sarah Elsey is the Testing and Alternative Media Specialist for the office of Disability Services and the University Testing Center at UCCS. As a new student affairs professional, Sarah strives to create the “whole student” through knowledge about the importance of the educational experience and service in higher education by forming community bonds, providing support, understanding where the needs are in the community, and teaching the tools needed to create positive growth through challenges. Sarah completed her Master's in Educational Leadership at UCCS in May 2013. During graduate school, Sarah started the Alternative Break Program at UCCS and led her graduate program on a trip to study higher education in Ireland during the summer of 2013.  Before completing her Master’s, Sarah spent two years as a full time AmeriCorps volunteer in Colorado (in Alamosa and Denver).

Here at CCMW we are tasked with “leading the evolution of the engaged campus,” but what does that mean? What better way to tell the story of engagement than by looking at an example of an engaged student. We would like to introduce you to Melissa Tilleman, a recent graduate of the University of Wyoming (UW), to help tell the story of how CCMW supports a campus in creating opportunities to produce engaged students.

Behold the power of service.
